Power Properties Dallas offers high-end amenities

R and I have really been putting a lot of thought into our next residence. We don’t plan on staying in any one place for very long — we’d eventually like to move out of state — so we’re not really considering buying at this point. But we would like to have a place with a little more personality than we do now. Most apartment buildings are pretty ordinary, but Power Properties Dallas has some fabulous-looking properties that look cozy and intimate.

I love the look of the Boutique Group, with outdoor fireplaces and elaborate landscaping. And each unique has no more than 18 residences, which would give it a very welcoming and comfortable feel. Power Properties Dallas also has the luxurious-looking Verandah group, which looks like a tropical paradise right in your backyard — you wouldn’t even need to go on vacation to get away to a relaxing oasis. And Power Properties Dallas definitely seems to offer the high-end touches that we’re looking for. We still have several months on our current lease, but I’m excited to start looking when the time comes.

Mother’s Day and Birthday Plans

gardenia1R’s mother’s birthday was last month, and he forgot all about it. It’s not that he’s not thoughtful, he’s just forgetful. I am normally in charge of the social calendar and important events, but since we’ve only been dating little over a year, I wasn’t aware of the date. Anyway, he felt really bad about it, and intends to make it up to her on Mothers day. But it’s this weekend, and I don’t know if he’s gotten her a gift yet. Since his dad’s birthday is Friday, we are going to have them over to our place on Sunday for a dual birthday/Mothers day dinner.

As far as gifts go, I’m not really sure what she would like. His dad doesn’t like to make a big deal out of his birthday and every year he just says he wants a steak, so we are going to grill. I’m sure his mom would appreciate some nice Mothers day flowers. It’s not too late to order something from 1800flowers. She likes to garden, and they just built some new planters for the patio, so some potted flowers that she could replant would be perfect.

Nachshon Draiman’s tennis tips

I enjoy watching tennis, but I don’t really know how to play. Nachshon Draiman has a blog that is devoted to tennis basics and tips on how to play. He advocates playing tennis as a way to stay young and to keep your mind fit as well as your body. As opposed to activities such as jogging, tennis is a sport that includes more of a mental component.

Nachshon Draiman’s advice includes mental activities such as sizing up your opponent, and conditioning drills to help improve your technique. He points out that with exercise like running, you can let your mind wander. But with tennis, you are constantly thinking. Nachshon Draiman’s enthusiasm for the sport definitely makes it sound like something worth trying.

Happiness Is Pets sells many breeds of puppies

R and I have been talking about getting a dog. We both love dogs, and it would be great to have a dog to bring along on all of our camping and rock-climbing trips. But since we live in an apartment, we’d have to get a small one. Pembroke Welsh Corgis are one breed we are considering. I found an adorable picture of a corgi puppy on Happiness Is Pets. Even though corgis are smaller dogs and have short legs, they would do well on hiking trips because they have a lot of energy, since they were bred to be herding dogs.

Happiness Is Pets has a large variety of breeds of both small and large dogs. I think the little Pomeranian pup is adorable, but R doesn’t like small dogs. He does like bulldogs, but they have a lot of breathing problems, and I just feel like they would slobber all over the place. Happiness Is Pets is based in Chicago, so I’ll have to find something closer when we do decide to buy one, but all the cute pictures are giving me lots of ideas.

More on the Deer Tribe Metis Medicine Society

After reading about the Deer Tribe Metis Medicine Society, I took a closer look at some of the offerings on their Web site. Something I found really interesting is their statement that the human body is supposed to live 135 years. In addition to teaching ancient healing practices and spiritual growth, the Deer Tribe Metis Medicine Society incorporates physical programs intended to increase endurance and promote longevity. I really believe in the mind-body connection, so I think combining spiritual teaching with physical training makes a lot of sense.

I think the healing practices taught by the Deer Tribe Metis Medicine Society seem very wise as well: their alchemy addresses the underlying cause, not just the symptoms, of a disease or condition. Modern medicine is too often quick to prescribe a drug to address symptoms without examining the cause. I always try to figure out the cause before I start taking any kind of pills. I don’t even like to take aspirin for headaches. Pain is your body’s way of telling you that something is wrong, and sometimes taking a pill doesn’t really solve the problem, it just covers it up.

American Tax Relief specializes in tax debt settlement

Taxes … no one wants to pay them, and who can understand all the laws without professional help? If I keep freelancing, I’m going to have to start learning a lot more about it and maybe hire an accountant. Fortunately there are companies like American Tax Relief that help people make sure they aren’t paying more than they owe.

American Tax Relief specializes in settling tax debts for a fraction of the amount owed, so I’ll have to keep that in mind if I end up owing a lot of taxes next year. Keeping on top of tax laws and trying to figure everything out for myself would take way too much time. When the time comes, working with a company like American Tax Relief could save me a lot of headaches.

Harley SwiftDeer Reagan makes ancient truths accessible

Lately I have been reading a lot about alternative medicine and natural healing. There are a lot of ancient practices out there that have been marginalized by modern medicine. People often seem to doubt the healing properties of things like herbal remedies, but these practices have been tried and tested over centuries.

In particular, ancient Native American medicinal practices have been tried and tested by healers known as “Twisted Hairs.” This elite group of medicine men have gathered knowledge from many sources, weaving it all together to form “braids of truth.” This interwoven knowledge can refer to spiritual practices and universal laws as well as healing techniques.

One of these Twisted Hairs is Harley SwiftDeer Reagan, founder of the Deer Tribe Metis Medicine Society in Arizona. Through the Red Lodge Longhouse Program, the Deer Tribe provides training in achieving life balance through personal growth and spiritual awakening. I believe there is so much wisdom to be found in these ancient tribal teachings, and it’s great that people like Harley SwiftDeer Reagan are continuing to make it accessible to those who are interested. Harley SwiftDeer Reagan also believes that physical mastery and development are essential components to spiritual evolution, and has personally studied Judo, Jiu-Jitsu, and Karate for most of his life, adding an element of Eastern wisdom to these multi-faceted braids of truth. I’d love to participate in a program like this someday; it really appeals to my interests in both native healing practices and eastern philosophies.

Mohammed Babangida promotes polo in Nigeria

When I lived in Africa, the big sport was soccer. People would gather around tiny black and white TVs hooked up to car batteries and watch the World Cup. Now it seems that polo is gaining in popularity in Africa. Mohammed Babangida, a patron of El Amin polo franchise in Nigeria, has been working to increase polo’s popularity across Africa.

Mohammed Babangida helped organize the 2009 Polo Invitational, which not only brought international businessmen together in a developing nation, but also gave Nigerian polo team the opportunity to get to know players from around the world and to increase their polo skills, all of which are important for further development of the game in Africa. It seems that Mohammed Babangida has been very successful in using his love of this sport to bring together businessmen from around the world and bring Nigeria into the global limelight.
